Spot metering calculates the exposure on the centre point of the camera’s viewfinder. This mode is particularly good for subjects that require precise measurement – for example, if you are shooting in close up, or where there is a small point of light, such as a sunset.

Centre weighted metering is when the metering is averaged out over the entire range of the viewfinder. This mode is useful when the subject covers a large area of your frame.
