It has been reported to Canon that there are some batteries in the market place, which fraudulently display the Canon logo, and other trademarks, even though they were not officially designed, produced, nor licensed by Canon. Canon-branded counterfeits of lithium-ion battery packs, and battery chargers for Canon digital cameras, and Canon video camcorders, are also in circulation on the various Internet auction sites.
 
In many cases, the counterfeit battery products are not equipped with protective devices that meet the quality standards set out by Canon. When they are used or charged, they can be the cause of malfunction, abnormal heat generation, leakage, ignition, rupture and other such incidents.

There have already been cases reported to Canon of incidents which have occurred where, the counterfeit battery products were the DIRECT cause. There is a concern that counterfeit battery products not only could damage cameras and video camcorders, but also result in serious injuries such as burns.

To ensure your safety, we recommend the use of Canon-brand authentic battery packs, and battery chargers, which are safely designed, and are equipped with protective devices. We strongly advise against the use of counterfeit battery products.

Please be reminded that we, Canon, bear NO LIABILITY for malfunctions or accidents, caused by non-genuine battery products, including counterfeits. We strongly advise you to be cautious about where you purchase Canon battery products from.
